Melissa & Teddy | A Homestead Steakhouse Wedding
October weather in North Carolina is unpredictable at best: It could be 80° and sunny, or 40° and rainy, or throw everyone for a loop and be 80° and rainy with some unpredictable sunny breaks. Rain was forecast for the early afternoon on Melissa and Teddy’s wedding day, right at the exact time when we would be taking the majority of their photos. Benign wedding spirits must have listened to Melissa’s desperate pleading—and ours!—because it started raining at our photo location in Hillsborough about two minutes after we left, and at the church about two minutes after we arrived.
With fortuitous weather as a good indicator, the day unfolded like a dream: The girls had their hair and makeup done in a gorgeous parlor at the church; the boys watched some college ball at Teddy’s parents’ home; their intimate first look unfolded sweetly, followed by some photo fun with their 16-person wedding party; their ceremony was heartfelt and precious; and their reception was a total blast for all in attendance, complete with a dynamite speech full of good-natured harassment given by Teddy’s sisters, a ton of dancing, and a perfectly orchestrated sparkler exit. We had a great time working with Melissa and Teddy, and we hope you enjoy their images as much as we enjoyed making them! (Check ‘em out below!)
The amazing Gretchen of RedBird Events ensured that the day came together smoothly. Rev. Kathie Wilkinson conducted a lovely ceremony at Mt. Sylvan UMC in Durham, complemented by a great reception in the Timberlake Suite at the Homestead Steakhouse. The talented Megan Sandy styled the bridesmaids’ & Melissa's hair, as well as doing Melissa’s makeup. Ronnie at The Perfect Beat played the perfect mix for the dancing crowd. Flowers, cake, and cupcakes were arranged and provided by family members. Thanks for being awesome, y’all!
