Melanie & Todd | A Sweet & Loving, Intimate Downtown Durham Elopement at Unscripted Hotel
Wedding: 24 March 2018 | Posted: 29 March 2018
When Melanie & Todd and I got together to talk about their upcoming elopement at the amazing (and still new!) Unscripted Durham, we discussed doing portraits beforehand and I mentioned every photographer's preference for cloud cover when shooting at midday. While I got those clouds (yay!), I certainly didn't intend to get rain in the bargain (boo!), but rain it did. Fortunately for us, it didn't start until right as we were finishing Melanie & Todd's portraits and heading inside the awesome Unscripted parking garage anyway, but it did mean moving their planned pool deck ceremony (and drinks and snacks, and cupcakes from The Cupcake Bar) into the lounge. Everything about Unscripted is beautiful, though, and the closeness of the lounge space added an even greater degree of intimacy for Melanie, Todd, and the close family and friends who witnessed their union. Their ceremony was performed by Rev. Kathi Moon and included one of my favorite lines I've ever heard in a ceremony: "Let my arms be your shelter, and let my heart be your home." Sweet little swoon. I'm so grateful to have been able to capture this lovely little elopement—congratulations, Melanie & Todd! Send them some love in the comments below!
