Maureen & Barry | Downtown Raleigh & Nash Square Wedding Portraits
Session: 19 May 2017 | Posted: 6 August 2017

There's something so great about downtown Raleigh. Maybe it's the fact that, as a Durhamite, I don't get to go down there that often, but I feel like I notice something new-to-me every time I do. On the occasion of Maureen & Barry's wedding day in May, it was a pair of really great doors and the rough-hewn feeling of the window frames in the Raleigh Times Bar. Maureen & I went to grad school together; she and Barry and I all have origins in the Northeast—and a deeply ingrained impatience with the pace of Southern life—in common. They clearly have a fun time together, with a none-too-serious vibe and a fairly constant flow of repartee. One of my favorite things about them is how they challenge each other creatively: they spend a lot of time writing together and sending out work, and, y'all, if you do any creative work whatsoever, you know how important accountability is. What a joy to have it built in with your partner.
Enjoy a few favorites from their wedding lunch and portrait session in downtown Raleigh, and congratulate them in the comments below!
(Additional shout-out to Gingerbread House Florist & Gifts for the gorgeous bouquet & boutonniere work!)
