Mary Kyle | Love the Dress at Hill House

I love having the chance to work with my couples—as couples or as individuals!—as many times as possible before their weddings. Mary Kyle had two sessions with me prior to her & Andy's wedding (which was yesterday!)—one was a super secret wedding day surprise for Andy, and the other was a Love the Dress session of unusually epic proportions. See, Mary Kyle is a member of the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties, which calls the incredible John Sprunt Hill House home. I adore the drama, opulence, color, and variety of enduring historic mansions like this, and it was an utter treat to shoot there.

Because another favorite of mine is creating a bunch of different looks in any given session! Locations like Hill House are just perfect for this: You have a pink-brocade-walled parlor, dramatic mercury-glass mirrors, drapes on drapes, Spanish Revival architecture, and a multitude of unique details everywhere. The resulting photos are wildly different from one another, but oh my goodness, do I love them!
