Mallory & Brian | Raleigh Engagement Photography
Session: 24 November 2019 | Posted: 27 January 2020
We make it no secret that we're northerners and that a lot of our hearts reside in Pennsylvania. No surprise, then, that when I meet my fellow Yankees in the wild, as it were, I instantly feel at home. Mallory and Brian are both from Eastern Pennsylvania and they are just...our people. Mallory had reached out to me via email the weekend before a bridal show, then attended said bridal show so we got to chat before we even had a meeting. We instantly vibed, set up a meeting, and here we are. I adore these two.
We got rained out of our original engagement session date, and made a big gamble in rescheduling: the middle of the day. Yes, you read that right: most of Mallory & Brian's session took place with glaring noon sunlight all around us. We always caution that couples should hire professional photographers (rather than, like, Aunt Sally with the fancy camera or their sister's roommate who "is just really artistic in general"...) because we know how to work with all different kinds of light. But just because we know how to doesn't mean we like to: midday sun can be the worst. Instead of whinging about it like I'm doing here, though, we just sought shade, enjoyed the sun's warmth between set-ups, and made some of my favorite bright and colorful engagement images of 2019, thanks more to Mallory and Brian's incredible energy and joy at spending time together than anything else!
We can't wait for their August wedding at one of our favorite Durham venues (The Rickhouse!); until then, send them some congratulations in the comments and enjoy a selection of favorites from their session below!
