Intimate weddings have an incredibly special place in my heart. It feels like such an uncommon privilege to be one of so few witnesses; to be trusted to move seamlessly and unobtrusively through an event where everyone knows everyone else; to be present for the couples who honor me by their choices.
Maggie & Eric had planned a serene outdoor ceremony for under a beautiful pergola that, sadly, the weather chose to derail. Instead, they married one another in an even more intimate setting, and celebrated with family and some delicious barbecue afterwards. Throughout the day, they both maintained such a serenity of spirit that I doubt that, aside from perhaps Maggie's 11-month-old niece, anyone had any reason to feel at all unsettled all day. The room was suffused by a sweet spirit of communion together and quiet fun (the groom spent part of the evening doing a puzzle!), and I am so grateful to have shared in this feeling.
We had a break from the rain right at the end of the ceremony to head outside for Maggie & Eric's couple's portraits, and I'm so glad we took the chance—this sweetness was worth a light drizzle! Combine that with the wholly familial feeling of the night—a blessing given by Maggie's dad, four different cakes made by Maggie's parents, kiddos playing games—and I could not think of a better way to close out our 2019 wedding season.
Thank you so much to Maggie & Eric for trusting me to capture their beautiful day—all our best wishes for a happy, happy marriage! Wish them well in the comments and enjoy a selection of my favorites from their wedding day below!
