Keeley & Daniel | Vintage, DIY Elopement at Bridge Club in Raleigh
Wedding: 20 September 2020 | Posted: 22 September 2020

Here we are with a new installment of "COVID Strikes Again." Keeley & Daniel were set to have a joyous celebration at Bridge Club with their friends and family, but made the decision several months ago to postpone the Big Party until next year, while still getting married this year in a small and intimate ceremony. They changed ceremony venues twice, ultimately settling back at downtown Raleigh staple Bridge Club. (Which makes perfect sense—they got engaged after a dinner at Death & Taxes downstairs!)
And it was beautiful! They were attended and witnessed by their closest friends, the event was livestreamed for friends and family to celebrate from afar, and I have rarely seen such capable DIYers! They did incredible work on some big ticket items: In addition to her hair and makeup, Keeley arranged all their flowers, including her stunning bouquet; after many mouth-watering-sounding practice runs, Daniel created their gorgeous cake. Plus, the stand on which said cake rested was hand-turned for them—and hand-stamped underneath the base with their names and wedding date!—by Daniel's father; such a beautiful and thoughtful keepsake!
Among other perfectly placed keepsakes and heirlooms? Photos from their parents' weddings. Keeley's wedding band, which was her late mother's. Keeley's veil, her "something borrowed" from a best woman unable to travel due to COVID. Even in its physical absence, Daniel & Keeley's community surrounded them to help them feel loved on their wedding day. I am so grateful to have been even a small part of this day for them, and it was a complete delight to capture their uncommon, beautifully spirited love, their moments of glee and abject emotion; to document the beginning of what is sure to be a beautiful marriage. View a selection of my favorites from the day below, and congratulate these newlyweds in the comments!
