Heather & Eric | Love At Home in Durham
Session: 12 May 2017 | Posted: 5 August 2017
These super-in-love, darling, wine-loving Duke fans were among our first wedding clients in North Carolina. We have always had so much fun together that they feel like long-time friends. Late last year, they began the process of tearing down Eric's existing home to build, in its place, a brand new—and beautiful!—log cabin home; Heather contacted me early in 2017 to discuss the possibility of having an at-home session once the house was move-in ready. (Of course I was thrilled, not only to see the result of their expert planning and preparation—Eric is a contractor—but to spend time with Heather & Eric again!)
Shortly after this conversation, Eric began treatment for an aggressive form of cancer, treatment that would culminate in an at-home bone marrow transplant process, which he is 79 days into (and doing extremely well!) as of this writing.
What a season in their life to have the privilege of documenting. Eric reminds me a lot of my dad, which means that even an ongoing bone marrow transplant won't slow him down; Heather is an amazingly patient oncological nurse who ensures he goes slow enough to allow his body to heal. :-) Their new home is incredibly gorgeous—I mean, those soapstone countertops? that gigantic island?—but their sweet love outshines every last detail. Enjoy some of my favorite images from their session, and send good vibes for continued healing their way.
Love the cuddly sweetness of Heather & Eric's at home session? Can't wait to schedule one of your own? We love at home sessions and would love to talk to you about yours--give us a shout to start the conversation today!
