Gretchen & Chris | Classic, Elegant Fall Wedding at Chatham Station

It's no secret that some of my favorite wedding elements are those most personal to the couple. Gretchen & Chris filled their day with so many of these almost everywhere you looked, and it delighted my little heart. They were married by a longtime friend of Gretchen's family. The centerpieces contained small butterflies, Chris's family having taken monarchs as a symbol of his late mother. Gretchen carried an heirloom ring tied into her dress pocket. The attention to detail even showed up in the food: scalloped potatoes, as Chris's all-time favorite, were a menu necessity, and the apple cobbler that comprised part of their fall-themed dessert spread was Gretchen's family recipe!

Much of this makes it obvious how much Gretchen & Chris value time with their families. It's one of the reasons they strove to keep their wedding as close to pre-COVID normal as possible: they kept their original date, their venue, and all their original vendors; they reduced their guest count to comply with regulations and made sure that everyone wore masks; they did all this in the effort to preserve time with their families as much as possible, to make sure the most important people in their lives could be involved. (Gretchen's sister even managed to fly in from Spain!)
