Davey & Jesse | High-Energy, Joy-Filled Same Sex Wedding Celebration at the Matthews House

Davey & Jesse had a longer planning timeline than most. We originally met back in 2019 for their April 2020 wedding date and, well, we know how that story goes. They got married in a private ceremony on their original wedding date, and bumped their celebration out not once, not twice, but three times, finally landing on their second anniversary.

April can be fickle, but the weather was just right for an outdoor ceremony and cocktails: sunshine, a little bit of cloud cover and a breeze. Jesse & Davey and their wedding parties bounced around the lovely grounds of the Matthews House, setting up, lacing up, gearing up. Several times throughout our almost-three-year planning timeline, Davey and Jesse——mostly Davey!——warned me about the wildness present among their group of friends. Davey's a rugby player, her friends are rugby players, and the energy, they told me, was akin to herding cats. But we thrive in rowdiness, and we were met with a group of high-energy individuals who were nothing but fun,  pleasant, excited and excitable the entire day.

I mean, how could you not be when you're so thrilled to be celebrating friends like Davey & Jesse? These two are so obviously loved dearly by the people around them: from the delight on their dads' faces during their respective first looks, to the barely controlled laughter throughout the retelling of their love story during the ceremony, to the many people who toasted these two during the reception, to the way all their guests kept Davey & Jesse in the center of the dance floor and other reception antics. The energy was relentless, and everyone's joy at celebrating these two was catching.

Davey & Jesse, thank you so much for trusting us to capture this delightful celebration. We had a blast goofing around with this crew all day, and wish this sweet couple every possible happiness that marriage has to bring.
