Breana | Raleigh Maternity Portraits

Motherhood is one of those things that people have Opinions about. And...let's be honest, they're not always nice opinions. They really tend to be the sort of opinions that assume that the opinion-haver knows best for everyone, and anyone who thinks or acts otherwise is a lesser human.
My favorite fellow mamas are ones who give a big double middle finger to Opinions like that. Breana is such a one!
We have a lot of views on motherhood in common—mostly that the word "should" would be a lot better erased from everyone's collective vocabulary—and so Breana is a refreshing mom presence to be around. We photographed her & Matt's wedding way back in 2015, and have looked for every excuse to get together between now and then. The imminent arrival of their first baby, sweet li'l Sophie, was a great one, so we found ourselves downtown (and in the Dorothea Dix sunflower fields at dusk) documenting the last weeks prior to Sophie's debut.
