Aubrey and Drew are two of the shiniest, sweetest, most positively dispositioned people I know. Their wedding day may have been gray, misty, and drizzly--and I may have come out of it wet, muddy and frizzy--but my memories of the day seem all full of sunshine siphoned off of Aubrey and Drew's smiles.

It just so happened that Aubrey and Drew's wedding weekend coincided with Hurricane Joaquin's landfall debut in North Carolina. Though Roxboro, NC--home, among other things, of The Gazebo at Sunset Ridge, where Aubrey and Drew's wedding took place--is definitely not a coastal town, it's not so far inland that we didn't get plenty of rain (and mud to boot) as a result of the hurricane. From Aubrey and Drew's attitudes, though, you would never have known. Aubrey pulled on some purple rain boots, hitched up her skirts, and smiled so much that her face probably hurt. We moved their first look from a grassy area to a covered porch; we sped through wedding party photos as fast as we could; and we rolled with the mist and the rain as it rolled around us.

One of the things I loved about Aubrey and Drew's wedding day--aside from the abject happiness and love that infused absolutely everything--was the DIY, group-effort feel of every little detail. Drew's groomswoman Allison did Aubrey's makeup. Aubrey and her cadre of lady friends hand-arranged the bouquets, boutonnieres, and all the centerpieces. For months preceding the wedding, Aubrey's mom collected assorted plates for both dinnerware and favors--and transported them all from Baltimore the week of the wedding!--as well as creating the adorable little napkin decor pieces with various buttons and charms. Assorted cakes and pies, some of Aubrey and Drew's favorite beers, a hand-crafted ceremony arch, a rooster pin that belonged to Aubrey's grandmother on her belt, custom vests for Drew and his dudes handsewn by a long-time family friend--the list goes on.

All these details combined with all Aubrey and Drew's determined powers of love to make a fun, personal, laid-back, and emotionally connected wedding day that goes down as one of our favorites from the fall of 2015. A million thanks to Aubrey and Drew and their families and friends for including us and allowing us to document such an awesome day. We <3 you guys.

Almost, but not quite, adorable'd out? Want photos this full of cuteness and fun at your wedding? Send an email my way ( to set up a consultation!

Congratulate Aubrey & Drew!
