Meghan & Ryan | A Museum of Life & Science Wedding
I half hoped it would snow on Meghan and Ryan’s wedding day.
See, I hate the cold, and I typically really hate snow. This is why we live in North Carolina! That notwithstanding, though, I feel a small stab of jealousy whenever my Pennsylvania friends—photographers or otherwise—post magical, twinkling winter engagement or wedding images on Facebook or Instagram. I don’t want to be there, per se, but I would like—maybe once every five years or so—to photograph a snowy winter wedding.
Fortunately, Meghan and Ryan’s January wedding was magical all on its own, and didn’t need any help from the weather.
Due to an unforeseen church policy, Meghan and Ryan had to make a late game venue change for their ceremony. I would never wish such a logistical headache on any of our couples, but y’all, I am so glad it worked out like it did, because we got to photograph Meghan and Ryan and their wedding party at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham—holy geez, what a fun venue! We would love to go back there, so if you are holding all or part of your wedding there, get in touch!
Meghan and Ryan are sweet, caring people, and they have a tight pack of very loyal long-time friends, all of whom were a blast to be around. They imbued their wedding with a number of nerdy touches to reflect interests they share: Ryan and his groomsmen wore custom Xbox cuff links; Meghan and Ryan both sealed their wine box ceremony letters inside Batman comics; their ring box was a Pokéball, and both are engraved with the phrase, “I choose you,” which is adorable; and, the real kicker, the literal icing on the nerdy cake, was the Minecraft groom’s cake complete with little custom-made figures on top!
Top all this off with an emotional first look, a teary-eyed bride, a dress change before the reception, and a sparkler exit, and you have a magical—and personal—wedding story. It was every bit of our pleasure to photograph it.
Not only did we have the joy of photographing Meghan and Ryan’s lovely and intimate wedding, but we got to have a whole separate newlywed session with them a few weeks later! But that’s a post for another day. (Stay tuned!) In the meantime, enjoy some images from their wedding! Thank you so much for including us in all your celebrations, and congratulations, Meghan and Ryan!
